Robert Roebling at the wheel of the Black Douglas, circa 1935, on her voyage down from New York City. There were two steering wheels on the Black Douglas, one forward for close maneuvering and one aft. The one shown is the aft wheel. It was custom made. In the late 1990's the Roebling family tried to aquire the wheel again without success.
